African American Women at Risk

Studies conducted have consistently proven that African American women are more prone to health risks compared to the rest of the population. While women of White and Hispanic descent with higher socioeconomic status seem somewhat protected from rising obesity rates, interestingly, this does not hold true for African American women. Researchers postulate that this is due to various factors intersecting – race, stress, and social context for African Americans.
